Service Description

At Alyssa's Aquatics, we cater to all ages, from preschoolers to adults. Our preschool levels, designed for ages 3-5, offer a range from levels 1 to 5, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience. For those above 5, our Swim for Life levels provide a 6-level program that transitions seamlessly from the original 10-level program. And don't forget about our adult levels 1-3 - it's never too late to learn to swim or perfect your skills! Join us and swim towards confidence and safety with Alyssa's Aquatics.

Levels

These are all the levels I teach provided by the lifesaving society.

Preschool (Ages 3-5)

  • Preschool 1 introduces water play and movement with parental support, focusing on getting in and out, floating, and blowing bubbles.

  • Preschool 2 encourages independence with solo jumps, glides, and submersion using a lifejacket.

  • Preschool 3 adds deeper water entries, object retrieval, and basic propulsion on the front and back.

  • Preschool 4 advances skills like side entries, short solo swims, and glides with kick on the side.

  • Preschool 5 challenges kids with forward roll entries, treading water, and short front and back crawl swims.

Swimmer levels (Ages 5+)

  • Swimmer 1 builds comfort in the water with basic floats, glides, breath control, and assisted jumps.

  • Swimmer 2 introduces deeper water skills, unassisted floats, whip kick, and 10 m front and back swims.

  • Swimmer 3 adds dives, somersaults, handstands, and 15 m front and back crawl with improved technique.

  • Swimmer 4 focuses on underwater swimming, full-length strokes, and achieving the Swim to Survive® standard.

  • Swimmer 5 refines shallow dives, eggbeater kicks, and longer swims including breaststroke and interval sets.

  • Swimmer 6 challenges swimmers with advanced entries, lifesaving kicks, endurance swims, and a 300 m workout.

Adult Lessons  (Ages 16+)

  • Adult 1 focuses on the basics: front and back swims up to 15 m, simple entries, underwater skills, and interval kicking to build strength.

  • Adult 2 introduces dive entries, breaststroke technique, and longer swims with interval sets to improve endurance and stroke efficiency.

  • Adult 3 develops advanced skills like eggbeater kick, stride entries, and compact jumps, while refining all strokes and completing a 300 m workout.

Leadership / Lifeguard Preperation

Swimmers should be able to confidently swim at least 100 m continuously and feel comfortable in deep water before enrolling, or have successfully completed Swimmer 6 (or an equivalent level). This ensures they’re prepared for the endurance and skill level required in the Lifesaving Society Rookie Patrol program. The Lifesaving Society Swim Patrol program progresses in order: Rookie Patrol, Ranger Patrol, then Star Patrol. Rookie Patrol

The Lifesaving Society Rookie Patrol program introduces swimmers to basic lifesaving skills while building endurance and stroke technique. Swimmers complete 50 m of front crawl, back crawl, and breaststroke, a timed 100 m swim, and 350 m workouts. They practice skills like a 25 m obstacle swim, 15 m object carry (2.3 kg), surface dives to 2 m, and treading/sculling for 30 seconds. The course also covers beginner rescue skills, victim recognition, and first aid basics such as assessing conscious victims, calling EMS, and treating bleeding, helping swimmers build confidence and a strong foundation for the next patrol levels.

Ranger Patrol

The Lifesaving Society Ranger Patrol program builds endurance and lifesaving skills through longer swims and hands-on practice. Swimmers complete 75 m of front crawl, back crawl, and breaststroke, a 100 m lifesaving medley, and a timed 200 m swim. They also practice skills like 25 m eggbeater kick, object recovery from up to 2 m depth, and supporting a 2.3 kg object in deep water. The program introduces basic rescues, victim recognition, and first aid, helping swimmers gain confidence and prepare for advanced lifesaving levels.

Star Patrol

The Lifesaving Society Star Patrol program focuses on advanced endurance, lifesaving skills, and decision-making. Swimmers complete 100 m of front crawl, back crawl, and breaststroke, a timed 300 m swim, and multiple 600 m workouts. They practice advanced skills like eggbeater kick with movement, underwater swims up to 10 m, and carrying a 4.5 kg object for 25 m. The program also covers defence techniques, rescues with aids, and assisting an unconscious victim, along with first aid skills such as treating injuries and respiratory emergencies, preparing swimmers for higher-level lifesaving and leadership roles.
